With a comprehensive background spanning 22 years in personal injury law, including 13 years as a personal injury paralegal followed by 9 years as a practicing attorney specializing in personal injury cases, Guerda has consistently refined her skills, ensuring that her clients receive the highest level of legal representation.

Biography

Guerda Prosper is the Founder and Managing Attorney of Prosper Injury Law. She was born and raised on the picturesque island of Harbour Island, Bahamas, to Haitian immigrant parents. As a preteen, Guerda relocated to Miami, Florida, where she built her educational foundation through the Miami-Dade County Public School system. Her academic journey included Gratigny Elementary, Horace Mann and John F. Kennedy Middle Schools, culminating with her graduation from North Miami Beach Senior High School—experiences that shaped her determination and work ethic that continue to define her professional approach today.

She earned her Associate in Arts in Computer Information Systems from Miami-Dade College in 2006 and her Bachelor of Science in Health Information Systems from Florida International University in 2009. As the seventh of ten siblings, she is a proud first-generation, Creole-speaking Haitian American and the first in her family to attend college.

Before attending law school, Guerda worked as a personal injury paralegal for 13 years at a boutique personal injury firm in Coral Gables. She continued working there while attending Florida International University’s School of Law at night. This hands-on experience provided invaluable client advocacy insights before earning her Juris Doctor.

Shortly after earning her Juris Doctor from Florida International University in 2016, Guerda began working at a personal injury law firm in Orlando, focusing exclusively on personal injury, negligent security, premises liability, and wrongful death arising from automobile and trucking accidents.

Beyond the courtroom, Guerda demonstrates her commitment to community service by offering pro bono services, volunteering as a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for the rights and inclusion of children in the legal system, participating in various community outreach programs, and other groups in her legal community. Guerda’s dedication to her profession and community underscores her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

When not championing her clients’ causes, Guerda cherishes time with those she loves, is an avid reader, explores Central Florida, and indulges her passion for travel.
